Autumn has come on so quickly. I often feel like this time of year is a portal. The energy shifts in such a way that ignites hope where there may not have previously been. I woke up the other day and the brisk air greeted me like an old friend. It’s frosty tendrils wrapped around me as I peered over my coffee cup, taking in the warm, glistening light peeking through my kitchen window and glinting off the pumpkin spiders webs like golden thread.
When the full Hunters Moon comes around, I’m reminded of that scene in Practical Magic where Sally writes a letter to Gillian under the light of the full moon. October brings a sort of longing, and an anticipation. The sky has that orange glow, and there are whispers in the air of something on the horizon, but you just can’t pin point what. I use this time of year to take stock of where I’ve been and where I plan to go. A potent time to channel Diana the huntress, and ensure that I am laying fertile ground for new growth, and that my arrows are pointing in the desired direction.
This time of year I find myself nesting, deepening my hermit practice and building my hobbit hut, wanting to stay in and create a nice home space that inspires me. I’ve been collecting some items for my butterfly wall. After years of feeling overwhelmed by stuff, I have a rule to only bring in items I absolutely love. Speaking of cozy times, comment your favorite fall reads! Especially if there is an audiobook with a pleasant voice I can listen to while crafting.
I recently wrote about how my 30’s don’t look like I thought they would so far. How I often find myself comparing myself to my peers or feeling behind in life. I had an onslaught of relatable comments on the instagram post. Everyday I’m reminded that no one knows what they are doing, we are all figuring it out as we go. And ultimately, in the words of Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home”. If you find yourself in that headspace, go check out the comment section on that post.
